Collings Park Surgery Update

Dear Patient,

For information: You do not need to take any action.

You may recall that we wrote to all of our registered patients in October 2020 regarding the future of the surgery. As a result of pressures arising from the COVID 19 pandemic, we took the decision to temporarily close Collings Park Surgery in April 2020.

This was because we had staffing challenges, with individuals having to isolate, and the space for people to work safely was reduced due to social distancing and infection control measures.

We felt it would be safer to redeploy our staff elsewhere within Mayflower Medical Group and arrange for people registered with Collings Park Surgery to be seen at one of our other sites, such as Mannamead Surgery or Mount Gould, if they needed to be seen face to face. Both of these sites are in close proximity to Collings Park – Mannamead Surgery is less than half a mile away. We contacted all of our registered patients and asked them for their views about the future of Collings Park Surgery.

We sought feedback from our patients, local services we work closely with, and a number of local stakeholders. The purpose of this was to determine what effect, if any, the temporary closure may have had on local people, as well as identifying any potential impacts if we decided not to reopen Collings Park Surgery.

We shared the feedback from this engagement with our commissioners [NHS Devon Clinical Commissioning Group]. Based on the findings of the survey, we applied to NHS Devon CCG to permanently close Collings Park Surgery and this was approved.

The surgery hasn’t been open for more than a year and this means it will not reopen. This decision has been made with the support of Devon CCG, following careful review of all feedback received and reassurance that we have addressed any issues or concerns raised as part of this process.

You do not need to take any action. You will continue to be registered with Mayflower Medical Group, and you will be able to access care at any of our practices, which are as follows:
